Intermittent Fasting

I love fasting because I see it in scriptures. According to Matthew 6:16-18 “When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 17 But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, 18 so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

Aside from this, fasting has a number of health benefits. It includes lowering diabetes and other disease risks, improving blood sugar levels, extending life spans, and improving memory. Intermittent fasting is a massive tool in your belt to help with weight loss or to break through a weight-loss plateau.

Types of Intermittent Fasting

  1. The 16/8 Method: Restricting your daily eating period to 8 hours, then fasting for 16 hours
  2. Eat-Stop-Eat: This involves fasting for 24  hours, once or twice a week; for example by not eating from dinner one day until dinner the next day
  3. The 5:2 Diet: On two non-consecutive days of the week, only eat 500-600 calories. On the other 5 days you’ll eat normally.

Types of Normal Fasts

  1. Full Fast: Drink only liquids (you establish the number of days)
  2. The Daniel Fast: Eat no meat, no sweets and no bread. Drink water and juice. Eat fruits and vegetables.
  3. 3-Day Fast: This fast can be a Full Fast, Daniel Fast or give at least one item of food.
  4. Partial Fast: A partial fast is from 6AM to 3PM or from sunup to sundown. Just basically eat dinner.

Bottom Line: Intermittent fasting to me is a massive tool on your toolbelt that will actually help you breakthrough some of the habits that you’re struggling with, those plateaus, and it will massively speed up your metabolism.
